The partner factory shipped one 10-ton chain grate. In a chain-belt grate the grate surface is the chain belt itself: the sprockets drive the chain so that the grate bars advance slowly.

Grate surface and chain belt

The grate surface of a chain-belt grate is formed directly by the chain belt, and turning sprockets move the whole belt forward. The grate bars are usually made of cast iron, and once assembled they keep the ventilation gaps needed between one bar and the next.

Air supply and combustion

Under the grate there are usually divided air chambers with adjustable air volume, and air passes through the gaps into the fuel bed for combustion. Adjusting the air section by section makes it easier to distribute air according to the combustion zone.
