Tab washer

Tab washers are small locking parts used at the fastened joints of a chain grate. They are usually used with half-round and square-head bolts to lock the bolt in place and to reduce the turning and loosening that occurs in service. The tab washers we supply are machined by the partner factory to OEM specifications, and we can supply them against the grate model and drawing.

What they do at the fastened joints of a chain grate

A chain grate runs continuously and is subject to vibration and temperature change at the same time, so bolted joints tend to turn loose slowly. A tab washer has a tab folded against the bolt head or the side of the part, which holds the joint in place and reduces the plate movement and the air leakage along the side walls that follow. It belongs with the side seals, pins and links among the matching parts of a chain grate, and is usually stocked along with the spare parts list of the whole grate.

Available materials and working temperature

The spares we supply can be made in heat-resistant alloy or cast iron according to the measured temperature at the mounting position; the table gives the materials and their temperatures.

The materials in the table are also used for grate plates, side seals and rollers, so tab washers can follow the same material system as the rest of the grate, which makes replacement on site easier.

What we need with an order

Please send the grate model, the part drawing or the measured dimensions of the old part. We check the inside diameter, outside diameter and thickness of the washer from that and quote once the fit is confirmed. Besides tab washers we can also supply half-round bolts, square-head bolts, long pins, T-shaped irons, guide wheels, front wheels and side seals, so the spares can be ordered in one go.
