A long pin is the connecting pin used when assembling the chain of a chain grate. We supply these pins together with the chain links as spares, matched to the grate model or drawing.
Its role in assembling the grate plates
On a chain grate the grate plates are joined into one continuous chain by pins and links. The long pin passes through the connecting holes of the grate plates and works with the links to form a hinge that can turn. Once a pin wears or bends, the chain no longer runs straight, so pins are usually checked and replaced together with the links and lock washers during maintenance.
Material and working temperature
Long pins are selected by the temperature of their position; common combinations are below.
| Material | Temperature range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cr25Ni20 (310S) | 1100°C | For high-temperature zones |
| Cr26Ni12 | Medium temperature | Common heat-resistant alloy |
| Cr20Ni14 | Moderate temperature | Economical choice |
| Ductile iron | Rotating parts | For rollers and chain wheels |
All parts are supplied to the NB/T 47050-2016 technical standard, and the material can be customised to customer requirements.
Quotation and matching parts
Please send the grate model, a drawing, or the dimensions of the old part, and the quantity. We check how the parts match, and the partner factory arranges shipment; side seals, rollers, chain wheels, grate plates and other parts can be supplied at the same time.
