With a “one item, one code” model, the factory manages every reciprocating grate through its full life cycle from production to scrapping, and gives customers a more efficient and convenient service.

A digital file through one item, one code

Reciprocating grates come in many types, and customised equipment differs in specification and parts; traditional paper documents are easily lost and cause much inconvenience in installation, commissioning and later maintenance. For this industry pain point, the partner factory uses Maidi identification-resolution IoT code technology to create a dedicated “digital file” for every reciprocating grate. Once the code is marked on the metal nameplate, the customer can scan it to view the detailed parameters, operation manual and precautions of the customised grate. The difficulty of managing paper documents is thus removed.

Digital service for installation and maintenance

The digital service extends further into installation and maintenance. After scanning in on site, installation staff can record the installation and commissioning process by video, voice and photo, which helps with work-load accounting and gives complete data support for later maintenance. After the equipment goes into service, customers can scan the code to report operating conditions. The technical team of the partner factory receives this information in real time and gives prompt troubleshooting and maintenance advice.

At present the company marks codes not only on grates leaving the works but also applies the technology to the main production equipment in the workshop. The two kinds of coded data together form an all-round digital management system.
